Louisiana Rehabs
The rich history of Cajun culture and jazz can be traced through Louisiana. New Orleans in particular was home to many genre defining musicians like Louis Armstrong. The famous Mardi Gras can draw as many as 1.4 million visitors every year through the city to enjoy the parades and festivities. Part of the celebration is heavy consumption of alcohol, encouraged by the city’s allowance for open containers in the streets. While Louisiana’s overall alcohol consumption isn’t as high as some other states, the rate of binge drinking is one of the highest in the nation. The overall cost of excessive alcohol consumption in Louisiana totals close to $4 billion. In terms of illicit substances, Louisiana struggles more than most states with meth. As the opioid epidemic shrinks, meth has grown and is now responsible for the most drug overdose deaths in the state. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use, help and hope are available at local treatment centers.
